Bringing social media into the classroom
With the growth of technology and social media, digital spaces are important and inescapable aspect of our social and personal lives. Majority of the students in our classrooms have grown up with digital technology and internet from an early age. How can we as educator, develop innovative pedagogical practices that connect students’ everyday experiences in digital spaces with their experience in the classroom. Such initiatives can aid in classroom learning, but also offer a critical lens to students to reflect on their own engagement in digital spaces.
The projects shared on this website were designed by instructors at the City University of New York, mostly in the department of psychology. However, the ideas shared here can be can be applied broadly to undergraduate teaching in the social sciences, as well as across different learning spaces in and outside academia.
